Our Experience:Pampering Payal with a good stay in Mumbai which has different facilities is what I wanted to do from a long time before her Bday and guess what Meluha the Fern caught my eye balls when I was looking for various options. And I booked a winter green room which is a luxurious room with the front view on top floor. We reached the Hotel in the morning and met the Manager on duty who guided us with the formalities like verification of id proofs. He very patiently answered all our queries and gave information about the facilities available at Hotel. They have a very good tradition of serving welcome drinks and so we were asked for our choice of drinks. We called for glass of wine as soon as we saw there was wine also available. Then we were guided by a lady to our room which was on the top floor. She was very helpful and gave information about the room. She explained how the lights were controlled by the switched near the bed. One of the most important things she mentioned was that why the hotel is environment friendly. The hotel uses all the biodegradable products, avoids plastic, uses cosmetic products which is not tested on animals and also has a facility to turn the room eco-friendly by just pressing a button. As we were done with the all the guidance we just decided to engross ourselves in the view and the beautiful room which was very clean and had fresh linen on the bed. The bathroom was neat and tidy with towels, napkins, bathrobe and toiletries neatly arranged. The room had a wardrobe to keep your clothes, a mini fridge to keep your drinks. Also a chair with stationery and table lamp was available to complete your presentations when you are on your work assignments. A small round table with a chair having comfortable cushion was kept in front of large windows to enjoy the view. As we were busy checking our room our welcome drinks arrived along with fresh fruits. We decided having it by watching a show on television. After some time we just came out to checkout the health club which had all the amenities with a view and then we headed back to terrace to check out the swimming pool on terrace. The swimming pool is open from morning 7.00 am to 8.00 pm. But during monsoon the pool might be shut. We spent some good time soaking ourselves in afternoon heat and enjoying the open to sky pool.
After burning out so much all you need to do is eat food as you are super hungry, so after changing we went straight away to Restaurant Tiara which is on ground floor. Usually 3 buffets (breakfast, lunch and dinner) are served in the restaurant. The buffet costs around Rs. 1500 which depends on the day and the type of buffet you are choosing. Mr. Varun the restaurant manager helped us as Payal is Jain and on Buffet Majority of food is non Jain. The buffet consists a wide spread of delicacies from different cuisines. It had 2 types of soups, of which Palak Shorba is what we had. It was delicious with perfect consistency. There were different kind of bread sticks and breads available to have along with the soup.
The next that we had was salads. A huge variety of salads which consists of vegetable tossed salads, woldrof Salad, carrot and beans salad, pasta with vegetables cooked in sauce and also a cheese station where you can prepare a salad of your choice of ingredients and dressing. The spread of Buffet didn’t had appetizers so chef sent us some of the appetizers. It consists of Kothimbir Vadi with spicy mayo, Onion Pakora with salsa and salad, green gram tikki with cheese, crispy nachos with cottage cheese and pineapple salsa, mini uttapam with podi and cheese. The best thing that I loved about the appetizers served was that all the appetizers were given a twist with of another cuisine. Usually the pakoras are served with mint chuttney or ketchup but instead it was served in a glass filled with salad and then pakoras which were drizzled with a sweet and tangy salsa. The combination was really really amazing. The kothimbir vadi was really light crispy from outside and spongy from inside and served with Mayo. Again delicious and highly recommend dish. The green gram tikki was crispy from outside and full of flavours. The taste of cheese, tikki and the puri on which the tikki was kept was complimenting each other. The tortilla chips were served with sauted cottage cheese and pineapple salsa which was out so yummy. Highly Recommended.
Now coming to main course, being North Indian food fan I just filled my plate with Daal Makhni, Pulav, Paneer Lababdar, Bharwan Baigan and different dishes available in small quantities to taste and also the pickles that were available. I also ordered a Naan which was served hot and crispy. Everything apart from Subz Noorani and Palak dhingri was delicious. Payal had ordered daal and rice for her which she totally loved. Now it was the turn of desserts and Payal was ready with her plate filled with Mango Pastry, Chocolate pudding, fresh cut fruits, hot piping Malpua and Bombay Ice Halwa. We loved the hot Malpua served as it was crispy and with perfect sweetness. Overall the experience at Meluha the Fern was a memorable experience and one should definitely visit.
